If you need anything from the list above, the Random Generator for Microsoft Excel is the perfect choice. What are the advantages of this neat tool that make it stand out from other random generators? A rich set of functions, attractive and intuitive user-interface, reliability and speed.
Click on the Random Generator icon
in Microsoft Excel, and you will see the following window with 4 tabs:
Let's start with the Simple values tab. You use this tab when you need to fill the range with random numbers:

First select a range you wish to fill in, decide on the value type, define the minimum and maximum values and click on the corresponding button. That's it.
If you need unique random numbers, for instance, if you want to assign unique random numbers to a list of clients, commodities and such, you check the Unique values option.
If what you want is to populates the range with values from Microsoft Excel custom lists or your own lists, go to the Custom list tab. On this tab you can:

Select the custom list, or click on the plus sign to expand the list and select needed values, click Generate and your selected range is filled with random values from the custom list(s).
What is really nice about the Custom list feature is that when you create a new custom list and add it to the Random Generator, it also gets added to the Standard Microsoft Excel custom lists. Great, isn't it?
"What if I need to randomly select a given percentage of entries from my custom list?" you may ask. With the Random Generator you can easily do it as well. Say, you have 100 custom names and you need to pick up random 10. You add all 100 names to your custom list, select 10 empty cells in Excel, click Generate and voila, you have 10 random names.
The Strings tab lets you:

Just select the character set: caps, lower case, all printable ASCII characters, hexadecimal or space, and specify the string length. Your string can be as long as 99 characters.
If you need only a particular set of characters in your strings, enter the symbols needed into the Custom field.
A real argument in favor of the Random Generator is the unique option of generating strings by mask. You can choose any pattern in combination with any character sets. Let's say, you need the first three symbols always be 001, you also want to use a slash, dash or any other separators. Then you set this mask '001/??-??', and get random strings of '001/FS-OB' pattern all across the selected range.
You open the Random sort tab when you want to randomly sort your data. Your list of customers, inventory or telephone numbers can be selected and sorted wherever they are in Excel:

Just select rows, columns or a range, and click Sort.
This Random Generator add-in is a real time saver which lets Excel do what you always wanted it to in a few mouse clicks. All you need is to define a value type and a range, and the Random Generator will populate the range with random data in seconds.
