Address Assistant in detail

The Address Assistant for Microsoft Excel helps you split cells containing street addresses, cities, states and zip codes into multiple columns.

It can also recombine such columns (for example just the street addresses) back into a single cell. Another feature can split zip+4 code entries in a cell into separate cells.

With the Address Assistant for Excel you can:

Address Assistant - Split Entries

Split entries

  • Split addresses, city, state, and ZIP code to individual columns
  • Split ZIP+4 codes in one column into two columns
  • Split cell entries if a math is found in a list
  • Extract the first "N" words from cell entries
  • Extract the last "N" words from cell entries
Address Assistant - Combine Entries

Combine entries

  • Combine addresses into one column (addresses can include or exclude city, state and ZIP code)
  • Combine ZIP+4 codes in two columns into one column
Address Assistant - Other features

Other features

  • Add leading zeros to ZIP codes
  • Add a leading special space to ZIP codes to preserve leading zeros when exporting to the CSV file
  • Remove special spaces added to ZIP codes
  • Trim leading spaces from cell entries

One very useful feature of the Address Assistant is the feature that adds leading zeros to zip codes. This feature is very useful when one imports addresses into an Excel worksheet, and Excel converts zip codes like 02305 to 2305, dropping the leading zero! And, if you need to export the zip codes to a CSV file, you may need to add a special space character to prevent leading zeros from being dropped when imported in another program.
